Breast Cancer Disco Night
In 2009, IWAV made a concerted effort to bring more charity into our usual social events.  Thanks to collections at our Evening Socials, we were able to deliver much-needed toiletries to the Klaipeda Social and Psychological Services Centre, a shelter for women.  We also collected tea mugs and clothing for the teachers at a local special education school.  Clothing and books also went to Musu Nameliai, a center for disadvantaged youth.  School supplies were collected at the beginning of the school year for SOS Vaikai.

In March, we organized our first annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser in partnership with Roche Pharmaceuticals and the local Pink Ribbon Society.  Our disco theme rocked Vilnius -- as did our members' costumes!  Our first effort was a huge success, raising 30,000 litas to buy 450 biopsy needles for hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda.

During the holiday season, we organized decorations, food and parties for the Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity and a local gerontology center.

The International Christmas Charity Bazaar (ICCB) is an integral part of IWAV's charity foundation, deserving of its own page on this website.

To culminate the year, we organized a highly successful food drive, in partnership with Prisma Supermarket.  Fifteen foreign embassies, the American International School, Bistro 18 restaurant and the local Daisy and Girl Scout troops took part in this magnificent effort to provide food to the Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity soup kitchen and the village of Rudiskes.  We hope to make this an annual event, calling it the International Community Food Drive.

We are always on the lookout for charities who need our assistance.  We would like to expand our program of in-kind donations (clothing, school supplies, toiletries, and woman-power like helping out in a kitchen or with childcare or teaching services).  Please click on Contact Us! to let us know if need assistance or know of someone who does.
